ABOUT US:
BergLand GSPs is a family business. Our farm is in the small town of Summersville, West Virginia. We utilize the fields and pond specifically for raising and training dogs, puppies, and boys. BergLand is a small family adventure, producing only one or two litters a year. Our focus is not on multipling shorthairs but on producing superior dual quality dogs. Time is spent reseaching genetics and matching up the best combination of sire and dam on every litter. Great consideration is considered when placing pups, after all, each one becomes part of the family!
Our two sons, Joey and Andrew, frequently help with the training and care of our dogs. I'm sure the favorite activity is playing with the puppys. They receive attention daily from all family members. The hardest part is not keeping everyones favorite! I believe there is no better way to socialize pups than kids. We hunt all of our dogs. An annual Michigan trip is great for pups. They gain confidence and bird sense in repeated contacts on partridge and woodcock. The "older" ones have a great time competing with each other...who can find the most. This trip is always an enjoyable kick off to the bird season. Here at home, we hunt our dogs in the wild woods. The season runs through February, so the dogs get plenty of time to hone their noses and hunting tactics on grouse. Not only is it challenging to hunt these birds in mountains, its also very physical. Our dogs come out of grouse season as top athletes and polished bird dogs. Enjoy our website!
